On Saturday and Sunday, January 9 & 10, 2010, His Grace Bishop Longin made an Archpastoral visit to Kansas City.  On Saturday, the feast of St. Stephen the Archdeacon and Protomartyr, Bishop Longin was greeted by Parish Priest Paisius Altshul of St. Mary of Egypt Church in Kansas City, Missouri, where he served Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.  Also greeting the bishop were Priest Mihailo Mikic, Priest Justin Matthews (OCA) and Priest Elias Issa (Antiochian Archdiocese), Hierodeacon Theodore Nickelson (Georgian Orthodox Church) and Deacon Nikolaj Kostur.  Before the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Longin ordained two sub-deacons, Tikhon Flores and Mihailo Wilson.  During the Divine Liturgy, His Grace ordained Sub-Deacon Theophan Frazier to the Diaconate.  There were many people, especially children, at the Divine Liturgy, which was followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.  At the Divine Liturgy, an excellent choir directed by Abbess Brigid responded.  St. Mary of Egypt parish is comprised of mostly converts and is very active in missionary work.

That same evening, Bishop Longin made his first Hierarchical visit to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Lenexa, Kansas.  His Grace was greeted by Parish Rector, Archpriest Aleksandar Bugarin, and many other parishioners and children who were waiting for their Bishop with bread and salt.  Bishop Longin was present at Vespers in the beautiful and new church, at which sang the parish choir under the direction of Mr. Bajich.  Greeting the faithful, the Bishop expressed his joy in visiting the parish for the first time.  Following the Vesper service, a group of children greeted the Bishop with Nativity poems and songs, which they recited in Serbian.

On Sunday, His Grace Bishop Longin served Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church in Kansas City, Missouri, where Priest Mihailo Mikic serves as Rector.  Before the beginning of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Longin tonsured Brother Nedjo a reader.  Accompanying the local clergy in greeting and serving with Bishop Longin were two priests from the OCA, Priest Paisius Altschul, Hierodeacon Theodore Nickelson (Georgian Orthodox Church) and Deacons Nikolaj Kostur and Theophan Frazier.  During the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Longin ordained Sub-Deacon Mihailo Wilson to the Diaconate.  Deacon Mihailo will be serving at St. Archangel Michael Church.  Following the Divine Liturgy, the parish offered a banquet in honor of His Grace Bishop Longin's visit to their parish, at which time he presented several books to various parishioners in honor of their activity in the parish.  In his sermon to the faithful parishioners, Bishop Longin spoke of the need for us to actively participate in the Divine Services, which is understood to live according to the Gospel and to participate in the Sacraments of Confession and Communion.  He prayerfully remembered the founders and builders of the Parish, whose sacrifices we can never forget, but rather to purposefully continue to protect the unity of the Holy Church and the faithful.  His Grace was pleased with what he saw in his three parishes, as well as with the people of God he found there.
