The visit of His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije

His Eminence, the Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropoitan of Montenegro, Amfilohije, will be visiting our Diocese from December 8th until December 20th. Svetigora publishing house has printed Metropolitan’s journal in four volumes which talks in detail about the events in Kosovo and Metohjija, since the beginning of occupation of this part of Serbia until this day. Our diocese is going to sponsor promoting of this book in some of our parishes and at the Diocesan center.

Bishop Longin consecrates Church Hall in Galveston TX

On September 13, 2008, the eye of Hurricane Ike, a monstrous storm with winds of at least 110 mph, bullied its way into Galveston, Texas. Waves crashed over the 17-foot-high sea wall destroying buildings and tossing boats around like chopsticks. It was the second costliest storm to make landfall in the United States.

Protection of the Theotokos – New Gracanica Monastery Slava

On Friday, October 14th, the Slava of the New Gracanica Monastery was celebrated in a most festive way. Bishop Longin officiated the Divine Liturgy and along him served sixteen priests and seven deacons. The church was almost filled to capacity. After the Liturgy, the procession followed around the church with the Gospel readings. Later in the day, everyone gathered for the reception at the monastery hall, which was also almost completely full.

100th anniversary of Saint George’s Parish in East Chicago

100th Anniversary in East Chicago, IN

Between September 30th and October 2nd, 2011, the Church-school congregation of Saint George in East Chicago celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the parish.

Serbs started moving into East Chicago over a hundred years ago, and the first organized Serbian society was founded on August 19th 1907 when the first church services also took place.
